"This time, the prize will be mine! Hahahahahahaha!""
F-Zero GX Story mode

Black Shadow is a cold-blooded king of evil feared by all. He is wanted by the Galactic Federation, yet he often shows up at the Extraterritorial F-Zero circuits as if they are his own. However, Captain Falcon has seen much success capturing his foot soldiers, and Black Shadow wants nothing more than to see the end of this meddling bounty hunter, preferably in front of millions of fans.

Appearance[]

Black Shadow lives up to his name by wearing an all black attire, his costume sporting two horns and a long black cape, with his boots pointed and split, appearing as bull hooves. Both the hooves and horns are for matching with his machine, the Black Bull.

Personality[]

Black Bull

Black Bull in F-Zero GX

Black Shadow has been shown to be extremely evil, cold, and cruel. He does not take into consideration the effects his actions have on other people.

He deeply hates Captain Falcon, who has captured several of his minions and foiled several of his plans. Knowing that Falcon participates in the F-Zero Grand Prix, Black Shadow had his own machine built so that he could enter and kill Falcon in front of millions of viewers. However, it is hinted that he also just simply loves destroying other machines at will.

He has also been portrayed as psychotic but extremely cunning. He is known to laugh at the sight of destruction or when setting a deadly trap, showing how twisted he is.

(Black Shadow's idle pose consists of his arms crossed staring down the player. His actions consist of stretching his neck from side to side, and flexing his crossed arms (or what could be a "chicken dance" taunt).

Japanese profile (translated)

The most feared evil lord in the entire universe, he is exceptionally ruthless and brutal. He has had many of his most talented minions captured by the bounty hunter Captain Falcon, who has thwarted his evil plans at every turn. For this reason, he wants to eliminate Captain Falcon. He has entered the "F-ZERO X Grand Prix" to make Captain Falcon bleed before the eyes of hundreds of billions of people, but in the last Grand Prix, he was beaten to a pulp and even won the championship. This time, burning with the fire of revenge, he intends to do whatever it takes to defeat Captain Falcon and win the championship.

Pilot Profile Movie[]

Bloopers are fun.

The second blooper take, starring Black Shadow and Deathborn.

His own profile video, "Bloopers", is, hence the title, a Blooper styled video. The first take shows Black Shadow being picked up by the neck by Deathborn, until he falls over and hits the camera. He gets up in pain, and walks away in annoyance. The second take is the same thing, but more focused on Black Shadow, as the scene ends, he gets off the platform and walks with his friend, dusting him off. The third and last take shows just Black Shadow walking in pain, when he falls over and gets up, wiping his knees and looking awkwardly at the camera.

Other appearances[]

F-Zero GP Legend[]

Black Shadowahjshjkskhjda

Main article: Black Shadow (GP Legend)

Black Shadow appears within the GP Legend continuity as the primary antagonist of the series. As head of the Dark Million Organization, his goals mirror that of his mainline counterpart: Universal domination in the name of evil.

Super Smash Bros. series[]

Black Shadow has made numerous cameo appearances throughout the series. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Black Shadow appears in various stickers based off official artwork and renders.

Besides this, his machine, the Black Bull has also made numerous cameo appearances. In the Mute City stage, the Black Bull is one of the stage hazards; along with the other 29 machines, they drive around the course and can ram into opponents. The machines themselves can also be destroyed by fighters. In the Big Blue stage, the Black Bull is one of the machines the combatants can fight on. The Black Bull also appears in a few trophies and stickers as well.

Black Shadow appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a spirit in the Spirits Mode. His spirit is represented by Ganondorf and has Captain Falcon in his Blood Falcon inspired skin assisting him. Both Ganondorf and Black Shadow are considered dark lords of evil toward the game's main protagonist and utilize dark magic themselves in their respective games (Black Shadow demonstrated this power in the Story mode of F-Zero GX).

Trophy Data[]

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
The undisputed lord of evil, feared by all. By capturing many of Black Shadow's underlings, Captain Falcon thwarted many of Shadow's plans, causing the cruel racer to enter the F-Zero Grand Prix solely to eliminate his antagonist. Shadow's machine, the Black Bull (#30), is a heavier vehicle that lags in acceleration but excels in body strength and speed.

Trivia[]

A Black Shadow standee

Pico had a fun time shooting Black Shadow.

  • While Black Shadow doesn't physically appear in Pico's profile movie in F-Zero GX, the last standee Pico shoots depicts Black Shadow from behind.
  • Black Shadow looks similar to a bull, hence his machine's name: Black Bull.
  • His appearance resembles DC Comics' character, Batman.
  • His appearance also resembles Devimon from the Digimon Adventure anime.
  • He is the most requested F-Zero character to become a playable fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series.
  • Black Shadow is the only Pilot who doesn’t have the "your rivals are hollowing for revenge" option in his interview in the U.S. version of F-Zero GX. In the Japanese version when told "your rivals are hollowing for revenge", he replies by saying "I'll send you straight to hell! It will be painless, I promise you.". This was removed from the U.S. version of the game likely due to censorship. Despite this, an English voice clip still exists within the game's files (see Quotes).
